I have posted on generators before, but thought that this link to Kohler’s own description of what a standby generator is would be useful. Kohler makes top-notch generators, we really enjoy representing them and installing the product in the field.

We had a great day at the WBSHBA Home Show at Lycoming College. We had lots of interesting conversations and are looking forward to meeting more people tomorrow and Sunday.
Come on out tomorrow from 10am-8pm or Sunday from 12-4pm and say hi! We will be looking for you.
O.k. It is that time again, the West Branch Susquehanna Builder’s Association Home Show is upon us. Come on out this weekend and have a look around? The show is open on Friday from 3-9pm, Saturday from 10am-8pm, and Sunday from 12-4pm. There are great exhibits from home builders, kitchen remodelers, mechanical contractors (obviously), and many more.
Come out and say hi! See you there!
Mitsubishi just put out a good video describing the benefits of their mini-split ductless systems. The video shows some very good examples of installations and applications of the units. These systems are a great alternative to traditional ducted systems for heating and cooling your home. I wrote a blog post earlier on Mitsubishi system with some pictures of installs we had done here.
I am a contractor that carries (almost exclusively) Honeywell thermostats for our customers. However, I believe that the innovation of the Nest (and other products like it) are going to push the residential control industry to innovate and simplify in a way similar to the iPod revolutionizing Walkman radios. The HVAC industry is historically slow taking up new technologies but, as tablets and smart devices become cheaper and more ubiquitous, HVAC control companies will have to adapt or die.
That being said, I have a Prestige IAQ 2.0 with a wireless gateway and it is a really cool setup.
Get stuck in the dark during the recent flooding and bad weather? We can help you with an automatic switch-over generator to provide your whole home with electricity. These Kohler and Generac generators will provide power for your refrigerators, lights, sump-pumps, and appliances whether you are home or not to turn it on.
If you are one of the many households in the area that have hydronic heating, electric baseboard or other non-ducted heating and are hoping to have air conditioning installed, we have a solution for you.
Split-ductless systems can provide easy retrofits for whole home air conditioning. The principle of a split-ductless system is that an outdoor compressor powers one or more indoor evaporator heads that heat or cool your house without the use of ductwork.
The outdoor unit is a small, quiet unit that can easily be hidden near the house. These units are much less obtrusive than the typical central air conditioner outdoor condenser.
The outdoor unit connects to one or multiple evaporator heads indoors. These heads generally hang high on the wall of a few of your rooms and provide cooling for your house. Each evaporator is individually controlled, giving you the ability to make each room the temperature most confortable for your use. With some brands, there are options for the design of the head. Also, with Mitsubishi (our main brand of split-ductless) there are low wall and semi-ducted indoor evaporators for even more flexible installations.
One final advantage of the split ductless is the technology behind the whole system. Mitsubishi units utilize inverter compressor technology. This helps keep the operational sound down and efficiency up. Further, if you select a multiple head system, it is automatically a heat pump. This gives you the ability to not only have cooling, but also supplemental heat to offset fuel costs during the milder spring and fall heating seasons.
If you think that you cannot have central air conditioning, think again. We have the solution for you!

The second day of the Lennox show brought a whole new round of product announcements and Lennox news. Here is a brief re-cap.
The product discussion focused primarily on Lennox’s award winning line of air conditioners and heat pumps (the XC/XP-21 and XC/XP-17). This year, these systems can claim the title of most efficient and quietest units available on the market. Beyond the air conditioners, much time was spent discussing the advancements of the Lennox Indoor Air Quality line (a product line you will see many future posts from me on). There are some great improvements on the PureAir product and HRVs. Also, Lennox will be releasing a steam humidifier product to compete with the Honeywell TrueSteam we currently use (it is always good to have options).
Finally, Lennox detailed their work on the new and exciting “social media” front. Well, new and exciting is a bit of a misnomer, though it is at least new and exciting in the HVAC industry. On that note, check out Lennox’s new YouTube Channel to watch their new TV spots (cool graphics) and some other neat stuff there.
As I said yesterday, don’t forget to come by the West Branch Susquehanna Home Builders Home Show in Williamsport PA, starting this Thursday evening. Visit here for more information on show times and location.
